JASON M. LEVIEN
CO-CHAIRMAN & CEO
Jason Levien joined D.C. United as its managing general partner in 2012. He quickly got started on developing a new downtown best-in-class soccer specific stadium, something that the organization had been unsuccessful in its attempts at achieving for the two decades prior to his arrival. Levien collaborated with government officials and private developers to embark on the public-private partnership which led to Audi Field, D.C. United’s award-winning 20,000 seat stadium. Located a mile south of the US Capitol, Audi Field is situated in the fastest growing and soon-to-be most-densely populated neighborhood in Washington, DC and is the host of the 2023 MLS All Star Game.
Levien also launched USL Championship Club, Loudoun United, built Segra Field, and the United Performance Center in Leesburg, Virginia, which opened in 2021.
Under Levien's stewardship, the club has built one of the most diverse and groundbreaking management leadership teams and ownership groups in professional sports. He has served on Major League Soccer's Board of Governors for more than a decade.
In addition to his stewardship of D.C. United, Levien is an investor in multiple sports team properties across the globe. He is also an investor in real estate, media, sports, and technology-focused businesses. He serves on the Board of Directors for Children's National Medical Center.
Previously, Levien served as CEO and Managing Partner of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies and the FedexForum. During his tenure with the Grizzlies, ESPN named the club the number one professional sports franchise in North America. Levien served on the NBA's Board of Governors.
Levien graduated from Pomona College where he was a member of the basketball team. He received a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, serving as a law review editor. He earned a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Michigan. Levien served as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and subsequently worked as an attorney at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, D.C.
