The year is coming to an end, and with 2022 just around the corner, we take one final look at 2021 and highlight some significant numbers from the season.Ā
203,441: Total Attendance at Audi FIeld
Audi Field became a fortress in 2021 with the Black-and-Red earning a 11-5-1 record in front of their home crowd. The support from fans was integral to D.C. Unitedās success on the field in the District with a total of 203,441 supporters attending across 17 matches.
89: Total Number of Saves
In 2021, all three D.C. United goalkeepers saw playing time. Between Bill Hamid, Jon Kempin, and Chris Seitz, they recorded a total of 89 saves. Of those 89, Hamid recorded 60 in 21 games while Kempin added 18 in 10 games, and Seitz registered 11 in four matches. Additionally, they ended the year with nine clean sheetsāeight from Hamid and one from Kempin.
56: Total Number of Goals
The Black-and-Red left their mark on the scoreboard in 2021, scoring a total of 56 goals. That goal tally tied D.C. United with the Portland Timbers and New York City FC for third place for most goals in the 2021 MLS Regular Season.
32: Number of Goals Scored at Audi FIeld
Out of the 56 goals D.C. United scored in 2021, 32 goals were scored at Audi Field in front of their home crowd. Those 32 include the teamās highest scoring match in club history when they beat Toronto FC 7-1 on July 3 at Audi Field.Ā
34: Total Points Won at Home
D.C. United had an impressive season at Audi Field in 2021 and the points earned reflected that. The team finished with 47 points, and 34 out of those were won at Audi Field. The 11 wins in the District almost propelled the Black-and-Red into playoff qualification in 2021.Ā
26.18: Average Roster Age
This year, D.C. Unitedās roster age average was 26.18 years old. To give you a better idea of the range in ages, the teamās oldest player was FrĆ©dĆ©ric Brillant at 36-years-old and the youngest player was Moses Nyeman at 18. But, for the younger players, age was just a number, as their skills and contributions to the team were well noticed. The two youngest D.C. United players, Nyeman and Kevin Paredes, were named to the 2021 MLS 22 Under 22 list.
18: Number of Players Who Scored
Despite D.C. United having the top scorer in the league in Ola Kamara (19), a number of other players chipped in with goals throughout the season. A total of 18 different players scored at least one goal for the Black-and-Red, reinforcing Losadaās ācollective above the individualā philosophy at the club.
