The stage is set for the finale of the 2022 Capital Cup, presented by XDC Network.
D.C. United take on Guatemalan side Xelajú MC at Audi Field to decide who will be the champion of the second edition of this intercontinental tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 7.
After opening the tournament with a 1-1 draw against C.D. Águila on Wednesday night, the Black-and-Red (1 point) are in position to defend their Capital Cup title on Tuesday.
But the advantage is with Xelajú (3 points), who come into Tuesday's with a 1-0 win over Águila under their belts.
Saturday’s loss to Xelajú eliminated Águila (1 point) from title contention. Two teams remain, but only one will lift the Cup at the end of 90 minutes on Tuesday.
Here’s the scenario heading into the final day of the 2022 Capital Cup:
- D.C. United retain their title if, and only if, they beat Xelajú MC.
- Xelajú take the crown back to Guatemala with a victory or a draw against the Black-and-Red.
