WASHINGTON – Forward Álvaro Saborío has been called into the Costa Rican National Team for a pair of friendly matches against Brazil on Sept. 5 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., and Uruguay on Sept. 8 at the Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica.
Saborío will depart following D.C. United’s match against the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 30. Saborío has two goals in five appearances (five starts) for the Black-and-Red since being acquired on July 16 from Real Salt Lake in exchange for forward Luis Silva.
Saborío has 35 career goals in 102 appearances for Costa Rica. He most recently appeared for Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
