D.C. United acquire Lamar Neagle from Seattle Sounders FC

WASHINGTON (December 7, 2015) ā€“ D.C. United have acquired winger Lamar Neagle from Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for general allocation money and targeted allocation money. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. 


Neagle, 28, played in 31 matches for Sounders FC in 2015 (23 starts), scoring four goals and adding two assists. In six MLS seasons, the Washington state native has 28 goals and 19 assists in 139 appearances (97 starts).

In 2014, he scored nine goals and added nine assists, leading to a 27 points, all of which were career highs.  He was second on Sounders FC among field players for most appearances, and scored two game-winning goals, at Montreal in March and at Chicago in June.  Neagle appeared in three MLS postseason games as well as all five Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches en route to Seattleā€™s victory in the final.   


Following a four-year career at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Neagle was signed to Sounders FCā€™s roster on June 10, 2009 as a Senior Developmental Player. Neagle then went on to play for the Charleston Battery in 2010 and IFK Mariehamn in the top division of Finland the same year. In 2011, he was re-signed to Sounders FC, but was traded to Montreal along with Mike Fucito in exchange for Eddie Johnson in 2012.  Seattle then traded for Neagle, signing him for the third time in January 2013.
