D.C. United’s Academy has announced its U-16 and U-18 tryout dates for the 2014/2015 season. All tryouts will be held at the RFK Auxiliary Field from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Monday, July 7, and Thursday, July 10.
The Black-and-Red Academy team was launched in 2004, and has since grown to incorporate a U-23 National Premier Soccer League team, three U.S. Development Academy teams, three Pre-Academy teams and various annual camps and training opportunities.
On January 6, 2014, defender Jalen Robinson became the seventh homegrown player to sign with the club, joining 2010 MLS Rookie of the Year Andy Najar, goalkeeper and U.S. international Bill Hamid, defender Conor Shanosky, defender Ethan White, forward Michael Seaton and midfielder Collin Martin.
D.C. United Academy players have been called in to youth and senior national team duty for the United States, Canada, Honduras, Jamaica and El Salvador teams. Most recently, Hamid was a member of the 2013 U.S. men’s national team that won gold at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and made two appearances at the USMNT camp in preparation for the World Cup.
In addition, the Black-and-Red’s second Homegrown player, midfielder Andy Najar, was among the 23 selected to play on the Honduras men’s national team at this World Cup in Brazil. Najar appeared in two of team’s three group stage matches, playing against Switzerland and France.
Players should register for only one date using the links below. The tryouts for both age groups will be combined, however, there will be separate registration links. Those individuals who are selected will be invited back for a call-back session on Friday, July 11th at 5pm.
