METRO ADVISORY: Stadium-Armory stop will be closed Aug. 21-23. Please allow extra time when traveling to RFK Saturday
After a short week where D.C. United traveled to the Bronx and then Panama City, the Black-and-Red return home to face the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at 7 pm. The Earthquakes come into the match riding high after defeating Sporting Kansas City 5-0 Wednesday night at Sporting Park. United, meanwhile, recorded their first 3 points in the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League with a 1-0 victory over Arabe Unido on Wednesday night. Be sure to tune in on CSN+ and follow along on Twitter and Snapchat.
New Kids on the Block
Both Álvaro Saborío and Quincy Amarikwa have been heavily involved in their new teams’ offenses. Amarikwa has now scored four goals and one assist since his move from the Chicago Fire. Saboríohas scored two goals, but has been a catalyst for the team, who’ve put up 11 in their last 4 games (3 victories).
Homecoming
San Jose defender Clarence Goodson, a native of nearby Alexandria and former player at the University of Maryland, is playing at RFK Stadium for the first time since 2007. The six-foot-four defender played in 66 games from 2000 to 20003 in College Park.
More Games, Less RFK
After Saturday’s match, United don’t play at RFK Stadium for an MLS game again until September 19. The team is in the midst of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League group stage, which means that you can still see your Black and Red at RFK; they’ll just be playing teams from Jamaica and Panama.
