D.C. United today announced that it has hired Enzo Concina as a new assistant coach. Concina joins the Black-and-Red technical staff from FC Internazionale Milano, but will remain on Inter’s staff as a scout during his time with United. Before joining Inter, Concina was the assistant coach at Napoli in Serie A from 2010-2013.

“Enzo will add a wealth of experience and knowledge to our staff,” said D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen. “We are extremely pleased that he has joined our coaching staff.”

Concina, a duel citizen of Italy and Canada, played professionally in Italy for 12 seasons before playing his last season in Canada in the American Professional Soccer League. While in Italy, he played for Ravenna, Cesena, Pavia, Piacenza, Monza, S.S. Nola and Forli. Concina made his international debut with Canada in a July 1988 friendly match against Poland and immediately scored his first goal. In total, he earned four caps with Canada, including the 1993 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
