Story of the Match
D.C. United will head down to Florida to face off against Inter Miami CF for their second fixture of the 2024 season. Previously, Miami came away with the win when they visited Audi Field in March, so Troy Lesesne’s squad will hope to bounce back and leave Florida with their second consecutive road win.
The Black-and-Red are coming off a hotly contested midweek matchup against New York Red Bulls that ended 4-1 in favor of the New York rivals.
So far this season for D.C. United, the team has gone stride for stride with their leading goal scorer. In the six games Benteke has scored a goal in, the team has earned 11 points with a 3-1-2 (W-L-D) record. In the seven games Benteke hasn’t scored, D.C. has only earned six points and posted a record of 1-3-3.
The Black-and-Red defense, which started the season with a string of strong performances, haven’t recorded a clean sheet in seven matches. The last time D.C. United held a team scoreless was March 30 against CF Montréal.
If D.C. United come away with three points this weekend, they’ll need to find a way to be stout in defense, and either provide Benteke with chances or rely on another goal-scorer to step up.
