What to Know?
The Black-and-Red travel to the Music City this weekend to fight for three points against one of the top sides in the Eastern Conference, Nashville SC. Currently, Nashville boasts a strong record of 10 wins, five draws, and five losses. The team has yet to tally 30 goals, unlike the other top two Eastern Conference sides (New England Revolution and Cincinnati FC), but they're led by the strongest defense in Major League Soccer, having only allowed 16 goals in 20 matches.
While scoring could prove difficult in their home stadium, Nashville is coming off of a loss that saw Columbus successfully put two goals in the back of the net.
In the previous meeting between D.C. United and Nashville SC, the two sides played to a 1-1 draw at Audi Field on May 13. In that match, Nashville SC scored first, but Ted Ku-DiPietero equalized ten minutes later to earn a point in the standings.
Last weekend, D.C. United was able to put three goals past FC Cincinnati, the current front-runners for the Supporters' Shield, thanks to first-half goals from Pedro Santos, Derrick Williams, and Cristian DƔjome. The offense will look to be potent again in order to secure points as the hunt to return to MLS Playoffs continues for the Black-and-Red.
