What to Know?
Over the previous weekend, a handful of playoff-hopeful squads including D.C. United, Charlotte FC, CF MontrƩal, and the Chicago Fire all tied, meaning no ground was gained on one another in the tight battle for MLS Playoffs' 8-9 seeds.
With two home matches in four days (Sept. 20 vs. Atlanta United & Sept. 23 vs. New York Red Bulls), the Black-and-Red are looking to make a robust push for their playoff chances with six crucial points up for grabs.
First up, Audi Field will play host to 2022 World Cup Winner, Thiago Almada, as the Argentinian is set to lead one of the Eastern Conference's highest scoring offenses. Atlanta is firmly in position to reach the playoffs as the Five Stripes sit in sixth place on 45 points thanks to one of the Eastern Conference's highest-scoring offenses.
On Monday, D.C. United announced that starting goalkeeper Tyler Miller is set to undergo surgery on a torn rotator cuff and will likely miss the remainder of the 2023 season. Learn more here.
