¡MLS Futbolito!™ returns for the 2014 season with events across the US

¡MLS Futbolito!™, the nation’s most successful grassroots soccer initiative returns for its 12th consecutive year. Thousands of soccer players of all ages will be able to participate in Major League Soccer’s official 4-v-4 summer tournament, hosted by eight MLS clubs. ¡MLS Futbolito!™ is set to begin Saturday, June 21 hosted by the LA Galaxy in Bell Gardens, California and will conclude with host Chivas USA on Saturday, August 23 in Pomona, California.


¡MLS Futbolito!™, the largest touring Hispanic event hosted by a U.S. professional sports league, consists of a series of all-day events targeting the League’s growing multicultural fan base.

MLSFutbolito.com, a mobile-friendly website, will allow players and fans to follow live scores


and local events at each of the eight cities. ¡MLS Futbolito!™ will also continue to work with the League’s community outreach initiative, MLS WORKS, in supporting their initiatives such as Active Bodies Active Minds, a soccer-centric program that offers fitness resources to inspire and reward children for being mentally and physically fit.


In addition, Colorado Rapids will once again host ¡MLS Futbolito!™ on the same day of a regular season match. The Rapids will invite all participants and their families participating at the complex to attend the team’s regular season match on June 28 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at 9:00 p.m. ET at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.


Volkswagen of America, Inc. and Wells Fargo will be the presenting partners of MLS ¡Futbolito!™ 2014. Alongside the presenting partners, the associate level partners include adidas, Allstate, Castrol, Gatorade, The Home Depot, Makita, Pepsi, Quaker and Xbox.

Competition Format and Registration Information

The 4-v-4 tournament is open to players of all ages, abilities and affiliations. Team rosters can consist of up to seven players (four field players and three substitutes). Each team will play in round-robin action, with the possibility of advancing to the single-elimination championship game.


Teams registered for the competition will be divided according to age groups and competitive levels with winners in each division receiving prizes. In addition to participating, each registered player will receive a ticket to an MLS match (in applicable markets), and the chance to win prizes from the sponsors. There will be $3,000 in cash prizes ($2,000 for first place and $1,000 for second place) for adult premier.

The entrance fee is $150 per team for those competing in the Adult Premier Division and $120 per team for all other participants.
