Washington, D.C. (August 23, 2013) – D.C. United and Monumental Network today announced that United’s Sept. 28 match at Toronto FC will be streamed live by the digital network. Coverage of the game is set to begin at 1p.m. ET.

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Monumental Network, who will carry our game versus Toronto FC on Sept. 28 and make it digitally accessible to our fans,” said D.C. United Chief Operating Officer Michael Williamson. “The live stream of the match highlights the Network’s commitment to soccer programming, and we look forward to furthering our relationship with them.”

Monumental Network is a top destination for sports and entertainment news, providing fans with exclusive, original content and video programming. Owned by Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), Monumental Network serves as a digital content platform for fans and customers in the D.C. region and around the world. The Network includes numerous websites and blogs associated with MSE’s three professional sports teams (Capitals, Wizards and Mystics) and venues (Verizon Center, Patriot Center and Kettler Capitals Iceplex). In June 2013, the Network ventured into its first live broadcast of sporting events by streaming all 17 home games for the Washington Mystics, becoming the first WNBA team to provide such unparalleled access to viewers online.

“We began our venture into live streaming of sporting events on the Network this summer,” said Randall Boe, executive vice president and general counsel of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “It’s a unique and highly accessible programming element and we’ve been pleased with the success so far. We’re excited to have the opportunity to extend our platform to D.C. United and look forward to expanding our relationship with them.”

The broadcast will be led by play-by-play broadcaster Dave Johnson. This is the first live soccer broadcast to be streamed by the network.
