D.C. United midfielder Paul Arriola will support the messages of diversity and inclusion during Soccer For All month by wearing diversity-themed shin guards during Unitedā€™s next two matchesā€”against Orlando City SC in the U.S. Open Cup's Round of 16 on Wednesday, June 20, and at the New England Revolution on Saturday, June 30.

Arriola, who was featured in MLSā€™ Soccer For All public service announcement emphasizing that all are welcome in MLS, was inspired by the league's campaign and decided to take the message a step further by showing his support on the field.

The custom shin guards were created by local artists Dez Customz and Kreative Custom Kicks and include the USA and Mexican flagsā€“an homage to Paulā€™s diverse backgroundā€”an image of a soccer globe with youth in a variety of colors representing the diversity found in the worldā€™s game, and the MLS WORKS Soccer For All and D.C. United logos.

Soccer For All month launched earlier this June through MLSā€™ community outreach initiative, MLS WORKS. While the commitment is ongoing, Soccer For All month will feature widespread efforts taking place in MLS communities throughout the United States and Canada to highlight the leagueā€™s commitment to driving positive social change and ending discrimination.
