D.C. United have acquired local college standout, forward Patrick Mullins, from New York City FC in exchange for targeted and general allocation money and an international roster spot through the end of the 2017 season.
Mullins, 24, is in his third MLS season and has averaged a goal or an assist every 154 minutes. A two-time MAC Hermann Trophy award winner while at the University of Maryland, the Louisiana native scored six goals and added four assists during his first year in New York in 2015. He was the teamĀ's second-highest scorer in just 11 starts, on an attacking side that features current MLS goal scoring leader, David Villa.

Mullins, selected 11th overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, led the NCAA in scoring as a senior with 19 goals and 46 points. The six-foot-one forward made his MLS debut as a halftime substitute on March 8, 2014, before earning his first start two months later on May 3, when he scored his first MLS goal against Toronto FC.
Mullins is scheduled to join the team in training tomorrow and will likely be available for selection in Toronto this weekend.
