D.C. United celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday by hosting local youth in a soccer clinic and panel discussion featuring Latino figures in the sports industry.
More than 75 students from the Latin American Youth Center were invited to RFK Stadium where they participated in soccer drills that allowed them to test their passing, scoring, and dribbling skills in front of Marcelo Sarvas, Luciano Acosta, and United’s U-19 Academy coaches.
Following the drills, students engaged in a 45-minute panel discussion and Q&A session in both English and Spanish that included Marcelo, Acosta, Director of Team Operations Francisco Tobar, and U-19 Academy coach Nate Kish. The panel was moderated by Telemundo D.C. sports anchor Moises Linares.
The clinic capped off the Black-and-Red's celebrations of Hispanic Heritage Month. National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States.
