D.C. United have signed defender Chris Korb to a multi-year contract. Korb, 29, played for the Black-and-Red from 2011 to 2016 after United selected the University of Akron player in the second round of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft but was out of contract following the 2016 season.
āItās been a long, hard road for Chris to get back to this point. We are thrilled for him and very happy to have him back available to help the team,ā Dave Kasper, United general manager and VP of soccer operations, said. āHis determination to return to the field is a testament of his strong character.ā
Korb made his MLS and D.C. United debut on March 26, 2011, against the New England Revolution. The Ohio native has recorded ten assists in 105 MLS appearances (96 starts) and in 2013, set career highs with 30 starts. On July 26, 2015, Korb recorded two assists in Unitedās 3-2 victory over Philadelphia.
During Unitedās first-ever trip to Yankee Stadium on Aug. 13, 2015, Korb suffered a torn ACL against New York City FC. The injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season and all of 2016.
The Black-and-Red host the Montreal Impact for their first home match at RFK Stadium since April 8 on May 6 at 6 PM.
