D.C. United and Wells Fargo are partnering for a third consecutive season on "Saves for DC SCORES," a program that launched in 2015. Through this initiative, Wells Fargo donates $100 to D.C. Unitedās charitable partner DC SCORES for every save made by a D.C. United goalkeeper in an MLS match. The number of saves throughout the MLS regular season will be tracked on dcunited.com and promoted across the teamās social media outlets. Wells Fargo will present a check for the final donation total during the last D.C. United regular season home match on Sunday, Oct. 22 against the New York Red Bulls.
The funds raised through Saves for DC SCORES will supplement the non-profitās program costs throughout the year, providing free after-school soccer training programs to students in the Washington D.C. area. The donation will benefit more than 2,000 children across the district who participate in DC SCORESā after-school program.
āThrough the Saves for DC SCORES program we are pleased to continue supporting our communities by further encouraging young fans to live a healthy and active lifestyle,ā said Victor Melara, United's director of community relations. āThis continued partnership with Wells Fargo demonstrates the power of sports and the impact it can make in our community.ā
As the official bank of Major League Soccer and presenting sponsor for the leagueās annual MLS WORKS Community MVP Contest, Wells Fargo is able to connect with local communities and soccer fans across the U.S. The company is an official sponsor of D.C. United and proudly supports the clubās efforts to improve the lives of local children through DC SCORES. Wells Fargo also has sponsorship deals with four other MLS clubs, all of which include community support programs.
