D.C. United to Host First Annual Health & Wellness Fair

Washington, D.C. (May 15, 2015) ā€“ D.C. United has teamed up with the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School and multiple other partners to host its first annual Health & Wellness Fairto help to educate the community and highlight the importance of physical fitness, nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.
The health fair will take place on Wednesday, May 20, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter Schoolā€™s Harvard Street Campus located at 1100 Harvard Street N.W. in Washington, D.C. 
As part of D.C. Unitedā€™s shift in community focus to championing health and recreational programs in Greater Washington, the health fair will give local D.C. residents, including Carlos Rosario students and their families, the opportunity to learn from booth exhibitors about different services available to them in the community while also receiving a variety of health screenings. 
Vendors will provide information about their programs and educational materials on health and wellness topics affecting people in the community. Available services will include health screenings involving weight measurement, body mass index and blood pressure measurement for those present. 
Partners for the health fair include the American Heart Association, CareFirst, National Kidney Foundation, Donate Life, Georgetown University School of Medicine, Know Your Health, Clinica del Pueblo, Childrenā€™s National Medical Center, Columbia Heights Farmers Market, City Bikes, the Washington Area Bicyclists Association, and Results Gym, as well as the D.C. Department of Health, the Office of Minority Health, and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
The health fair is free and open to all ages. Along with vendors and exhibitors, there will be door prizes and other demonstrations throughout the event.
