On Tuesday, May 24, D.C. United defender Sean Franklin, along with program partner Medstar Family Choice, helped kick-off the team's new āGet Fit with DCUā school program and visited students at Whittier Education Campus in NW D.C.
During his visit, Franklin spoke to students about the importance of healthy eating habits before leading a series of stretches, followed by 60 minutes of soccer drill stations and small-sided games.
Get Fit with DCU is a D.C. United school initiative program aimed at motivating children to participate in at least an hour of physical activity per day, in conjunction with learning about and establishing a healthy lifestyle. Through the program, local elementary and middle school students will have a chance to hear first-hand how United players follow these same principals on and off the field.
