MLS Experience
2019: In his second MLS season, Moreno proved himself as a true box-to-box midfielder for the Black-and-Red. Despite attempting the most passes on the team, Moreno recorded the highest passing accuracy with 88% while creating 20 chances. The Venezuelan was constantly a nuisance in the midfield for the opposition; finishing the season with 56 tackles. Moreno recorded his first multi-assist game in MLS during the 5-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on March 16, which earned him a starting spot on MLS Team of the Week. Moreno finished the season with three assists in 29 appearances (all starts) and helped D.C. United reach the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
2018: After transferring from Zulia FC prior to the 2018 season, Moreno immediately became a factor in the midfield for United. During his debut season in MLS, the 26-year-old made 20 appearances (17 starts) for the Black-and-Red. Moreno solidified his position in the middle of the park as he forged a strong on-field relationship with midfield partner Russell Canouse when the pair returned from injury in July. The Venezuelan recorded his first assist for the Black- and-Red in the 1-1 draw with Montreal on Aug. 4, when he set up Yamil Asad in the 70th minute for the game-tying goal. On Oct. 21, Moreno set a career-high for tackles in a game (4) at Audi Field in a 3-1 victory over New York City FC.
2012-2017: In 2012, Moreno made his professional debut for AsociaciĂłn Civil Deportivo Lara before moving to Zulia FC in 2015 where he scored three goals and recorded three assists in 64 appearances in the top tier of Venezuelan soccer. Moreno helped lead Zulia FC to their first Copa Venezuela victory in club history in 2016 by beating Estudiantes de Caracas 2-0 on aggregate over two legs.
